The level model allows to manage several ways of interaction between the level and the knowledge areas. There are three ways how the interaction and therefore the level influence each other:
- The vertical direction describes the interaction of a knowledge area over all level and inside the governance structure.
- The horizontal direction shows all interactions between different knowledge areas on one level.
- The diagonal way has all interactions between different knowledge areas that include different level.
The first two procedures show the most usual way that are common in many projects. The third one often occurs in unstructured projects and should be avoided whenever possible.
